Meihodo Organizing Committee

  • Su is a Chinese entrepreneur in Japan, an artwork collector, a producer, and CEO of MEIHODO Co., Ltd. Since moving to Japan in 1991, Su has dedicated his life to creating independent businesses whether they were in renewable energy, traveling, restaurants, or media. In recent years, he established MEIHODO Co., Ltd. in order to focus more on Asian cultural communication, through the development of MEIHODO Cultural Centre in Aso City, the MIUVEF, and the MEIHODO Washoku Culture Museum.

  • Zhigang Su is a professor, Ph.D. tutor, and the Dean of School of Audio Visual Arts & Communication of Beijing Film Academy.

    He emphasizes on pushing forward the research of the history and education of photography in China. He led his team to organize the progress of photography industry in China since the happening of Chinese Economic Reform in 1978 to 30 years later, conducted quantitative analysis on the professional photography education, and published the books Chinese Photography History and Chinese College Photography Education: A Brief Examination, filling up the blanks in the research of education in Chinese photography industry.

  • As the director of MEIHODO Co., Ltd., the general leader of the international culture-related business of the company, and the person in charge for MIUVEF, Miura is responsible for the overall planning and operation of the Festival. Beginning this year, she is building the base of MEIHODO international culture-related business in Hawaii and has become the CEO of Meihodo Hawaii Co., Ltd.

  • James Zhang, Meihodo (US) Executive Director and NASDAQ Managing Director in New York City. Previously Mr. Zhang was a Director with Standard & Poor's. He has sixteen years of experience with Wall Street institutions in corporate finance, strategy and management consulting. Mr. Zhang holds a master's degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

  • Graduated from Western University Canada majoring in Film Studies, graduate studies in Contemporary Visual Effects and Editing. Producer, Narrator, and Radio Announcer.

Judge Panel

  • Tan Dun is an Academy Award-winning composer, conductor, and artist who also serves as Dean of the Bard College-Conservatory of Music. He is best known for his Oscar-winning work composing the score for Ang Lee’s 2001 epic “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” A world-renowned maestro and UNESCO Global Goodwill Ambassador, Tan Dun has made an indelible mark on the world’s music scene with a creative repertoire that spans the boundaries of classical music, multimedia performance, and Eastern and Western traditions.

    Other prestigious honors Tan Dun has received include a Grammy Award, a Grawemeyer Award, a Bach Prize, a Shostakovich Award, and, most recently, Italy’s Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement. Dun Tan’s music has been played throughout the world at orchestras, opera houses, and international festivals, as well as on radio and television. As Dean of the Bard College Conservatory of Music, he further guides students and faculty in understanding music’s connection to history, art, culture, and society.

    Tan Dun has been associated with the Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival since its inception in 2018, and this year, he will serve as the leading judge in the music video category.

  • Sean Huang is a producer and director of Meihodo. He served as a committee member of the 1st to 4th MIYVMF and as the chairman of the jury for the 5th MIYVMF. He also holds the position of honorary director of the Canada International Chinese Film Association.

  • Award-winning TV drama producer.

    Born in Hangzhou, Lan Huang now lives in Beijing. Upon graduating from Shanghai International Studies University, she decided to further her study at Moscow State University and earned a Master of Economics degree. In 2011, she joined New Classics Media and currently serves as the drama producer. With her marketing skills learned at the university, she proposes unique drama scripts and program plans.

    Her famous works include “If You Were Deceived by Life”, “HOT MOM”, “Everything’s Okay”, “Tiger Mom”, “The Imperial Doctress”, “The FirstHalf of My Life”, “Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace”.

  • Qiang Du once served as the general artistic director of Beijing Film Academy Film and Television Planning Company and currently serves as CEO of Beijing Sky East Advertisement Co., Ltd. and the Executive Director of China's Industrial Development Research Center of Tsinghua University.

    After graduating from LuXun Academy of Fine Arts and Beijing Film Academy he was engaged in design and filming for 10 plus years. It has been more than 20 years since he has been involved in large-scale event production.

  • Yuanshen Gao has been engaged in the planning, production and coordination of films, TV series, documentaries and TV programs co-produced by China and Japan for a long time. Producer of, “A Chinese Wife and an Otaku Husband”(director: Xing Cheng) . Japanese producer, the Chinese online series “Dark Repulsor”

  • Professor Xinyu Yu graduated from Guangzhou Normal University with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication(majoring in broadcasting and hosting)in 1999, and she has obtained a doctor's degree in Justice from Arizona State University and a double master's degree in Media and Fashion Marketing from University of Leeds. She has the academic expertise in economic justice, social capital, international relations, and has served as a teacher at universities like Webster University, Benedictine University, Arizona State University and University of Texas. As a professional host in the 1990s, she was active in TV and radio programs in Guangdong and Hong Kong, and has published hundreds of poems and prose at home and abroad. She was the screenwriter for films and TV series such as “Mojiang Boy”, “Claw Flowers On Clouds”, etc.

  • President of China TV Co., Ltd., Director of CCTV Tokyo Office. Bin Liu served as the director of media center TV department from January 1994 to 2014. He worked as the production manager and general director of CCTV’s documentary“1937南京記憶(Nanjing Memory)”, and he won the China’s Best Documentary Award in 2014. In 2015 he served as producer of Japanese crew to make another documentary “ 東方主戦場 (Great Eastern Battle Field)” that received the 五个一工程賞 (Best Works Award). He assumed a role of general director for “ 雪線軍魂 (Snow Line Army

    Spirit)”, CCTV’s documentary series, “唯一日本中小企業黙示録 (Only- Japanese SEMs Apocalypse)”, a joint Chinese-Japanese documentary series and Tokuunsha world tour 2017& 2018 in Tokyo.

  • Li Sun graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1999, and studied film production design. He is now known as one of the best film production designers in China.

    After joining the film industry, he worked with a lot of renown directors. In 2011, he worked with director Peter Ho-Sun Chan for making“武侠(Wu Xia)” which won two major prizes, the Golden Horse Best Art Design and Asian Film Grand Prix Best Art Direction. His representative works include“非誠勿擾 (If You Are The One)”,“中国合伙人 (American Dream In China)”and“1942”.

    In 2018, he worked again with director Peter Chan as the co-producer of “中国女排 (China Women's Volleyball)”, “独自上場(My life)” and director Yojiro Takita’s film “聞煙 (Silence of Smoke)”. He is also known as the producer of popular drama “九州缥缈録 (Novoland: Eagle Flag)”.

  • Jing Xu, graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts with the Master Degree of Calligraphy. She is now a full-time calligrapher of Nanjing Academy of Calligraphy and Painting. She has experience in holding calligraphy exhibitions in United States, Germany, France, South Korea and other countires. She has cross-border cooperation with different artists. In terms of films, she wrote titles for “Happy time”, “Shadow”, “one second” directed by Yimou Zhang, “Dragon” directed by Peter Chan and “The Grandmaster” directed by Kar-wai Wong.

    The program “A Tribute to Karl” in Paris Fashion Week saw his first collaboration with KARL LAGERFELD to create a white shirt with the theme of “Breathing”, the first time for KARL LAGERFELD to cooperate with a Chinese artist, which is regarded as one of the brand’s most amazing works.

  • Li Shuang, a renowned international modern painter, writer, and designer who is considered a legendary figure in the history of Chinese avant-garde art. She was one of the few female painters and founders of the Xing Xing Painting Society, which organized and participated in the society's first and second exhibitions. Li Shuang is recognized by Western critics as one of the earliest and most courageous female artists with exceptional talent in the modern Chinese avant-garde art movement. The "Xing Xing Incident" and "Li Shuang Incident" sparked a storm in the Chinese art world and were referred to by the New York Times as the first Chinese avant-garde "performance art" works. Li Shuang is also recognized as one of China's outstanding women artists.

  • Entertainer originally from Taiwan. Erhching Liu made his debut with Mickey Huang, Shauching Sung, and Hsuehliang Pu as a member of an entertainment group. He acted the butler in the drama“ 流星花园 (Meteor Garden)”produced by Taiwan’s CTS in 2001. In 1999, after becoming the disciple of Zhaonan Wu, the prominent Taiwanese xiangsheng (cross talk)comedian, who was also the direct disciple of the master Baolin Hou, he started his career as a performer of variety shows. He currently serves as the head of “上海呉兆南漫 才戯芸社 (Shanghai Wu Zhaonan Xiangsheng Comedy). He strives to “have a wonderful life and act perfectly.” Today, he is engaged in multiple activities including xiangsheng, acting, talk show host and active as a singer. Main works of his performance include video hosting service iQiyi’s popular idol drama“月下: 為愛墜落的他 (MoonlightRomance)”,8 famous idols’ drama “痞子英雄(Black & White)”“回撃(Fight Back)”, DaAi TV drama “邱素吟的故事(Story of Qiu Su-zhen ) ”, “大 愛学校 (Da Ai School)” and a movie “幻影(The Apparition)”. Crosstalk works are “両岸笑星 会 - 相声一家親 (Cross-Straits Comedy Troupe-Funny Family)” and “師出呉門(Teacher in Gomon)”.

  • Born in Hong Kong, Chinese film director and producer. Shuiching Lai made his directorial debut in 1981 with his drama “甘辛四味(Sweet Spicy and Four Flavors)”. It became a hit and he started his career as a director. He directed “倚天屠龙记 (Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre)”, the historical period marital hero film in 1993. His martial hero’s film “新龙门宿(Dragon Inn)” received the best director award at the Taiwan’s 32nd Golden Bell Awards in 1997. His representative works include “还君明珠 (Indebted for Life and Love)”, “侬本多情 (She made Him Wrong)”, “天龙八部 (Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils)”and“万水千山是情 (Love is Everywhere)”.

  • Zhou has participated in the creation of nearly 100 film and television works such as advertisements, promotional films, micro films and documentaries. Her masterworks include the opening ceremony film of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the national image film “China Enters A New Era”, the national tourism promotional film “There Is Always More to See in China”, and “I Have Been the Protagonist for 70 Years”, a film for the 70 founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China. She cooperated with director Yimou Zhang to create the large-scale live performance “The Impression of Lijiang”, and cooperated with the music master Masanori Takahashi to create the large-scale live performance “The Impression of the West Lake”. She has cooperated with director Changwei Gu in many excellent films and TV works, such as “Tongli Ancient Town”, “We Are Together”, and “The Time Being”, “Craftsmen and Craftsmanship” and “Only Because of You”.
