The third annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival is honored to welcome Academy Award winning-actress and international film star Juliette Binoche to this year’s event as its Special Advisor and Guest of Honor.
Binoche is known worldwide for her roles in classic films like “The English Patient” and “Chocolat,” as well as more recent movies like “Certified Copy” and “Clouds of Sils Maria.” She has appeared in more than 60 features and worked with some of the greatest directors of international cinema, including Olivier Assayas, The Dardenne Brothers, Claire Denis, Krzysztof Kieślowski, and Jean-Luc Godard. With a career spanning more than three decades, she has been the recipient of many honors and awards, including a Cesar, a BAFTA and an Oscar, winning the latter for Best Supporting Actress in “The English Patient.” She is also one of only two actresses to attain the European "Best Actress Triple Crown" for wins at the Berlin, Cannes, and Venice film festivals.
Her participation in this year’s Meihodo festival and its awards ceremony, in which she’ll offer a message of guidance and support to the young participants, raises the level of prestige for all of the artists and filmmakers who’ve submitted their work. Her presence also helps the festival itself gain wider global recognition, as it strives to bring the visions of a new generation of creators to audiences around the world.
